Oľga Pecháňová acted as a principal investigator of the project.  The project analysed effect of nanoparticle loaded simvastatin on the cardiovascular system of obese Zucker rats. Nanoparticles were used to increase bioavailability of simvastatin, thereby to decrease its daily dose and to prevent reduction of coenzyme Q10 level. The results showed better lipid profile and improvement in NO/ROS balance after treatment with nanoparticle loaded simvastatin comparing powdered form.  The project was ranked among those that finished at the excellent level:
