Red wine polyphenols induce vasorelaxation by increased nitric oxide bioactivity
Zenebe W, Pechánová O, Andriantsitohaina R. Red wine polyphenols induce vasorelaxation by increased nitric oxide bioactivity. Physiol Res. 2003;52(4):425-32. PMID: 12899654.
The aim of the present study was to investigate the mechanism of vasorelaxant responses induced by red wine polyphenolic compounds (Provinol). Our results indicated that Provinol elicited endothelium-dependent relaxation of rat femoral artery by the Ca(2+)-induced increase of NO synthase activity and by protecting NO from degradation.
